The world is getting more advanced technologically with every passing day. Most examinations that used to be simple paper and pen or oral testing are now purely computer-based testing. Since change is constant, we must stay up-to-date so as not to miss out on the interesting things life has to offer. Please read about 10 Advantages Of The Internet In Education.
In this post, we gave guidelines on how to Prepare for and Pass TRCN PQE Exam. If you have already gotten your TRCN certificate, you can learn how to obtain a TRCN letter of professional standing here.
Getting to Know TRCN
TRCN means the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria. It is an agency under the Federal Ministry of Education, established with the major mandate of regulation and control of the teaching profession at all levels of the Nigerian Education System, both in the public and the private sectors.
All teachers are now required to write and pass the Computer Based Test TRCN Professional Qualifying Examination and register with the agency before he/she can practice teaching in Nigeria. This eBook covers the TRCN curriculum, and reading it will help you prepare for the exam.
With the introduction of the Computer Based Test, TRCN has shown its seriousness in moving education higher.
Here is a simple-to-understand eBook on educational notes that will help you to prepare and pass your TRCN Exams very well. Meanwhile, a sample of past TRCN questions will also help you understand what to expect.
How to Pass TRCN PQE Exam
To help teachers prepare and pass the PQE CBT, I have highlighted very important points to note and they are as follows:
Step One:
Be familiar with a computer keyboard. Get to know the shortcuts and practice several because this gives you a better chance than someone who’s not familiar with the keys on a computer keyboard. Secondly, learn how to move the Mouse pointer with ease, this will help you to choose quickly and correctly.
Step Two:
Your preparation will improve your chances of recognizing the right answers and answering them correctly. TRCN PQE questions are mostly drawn from educational courses (e.g. history of education, curriculum development, classroom management, educational technology, educational management, etc).
Others will be drawn from general studies (e.g. English Language, Statistics, ICT, and Current Affairs). You can find the full list of TRCN syllabus here.
Step Three:
Practice, practice, practice!!! With a good CBT platform. Even if you’re familiar with a computer and the internet, you need to constantly practice with an online CBT platform, so you can work on your speed and perfect the art of online exams.
Step Four:
Learn to time yourself when taking the exam. Before you start any exam, you should be able to share the time proportionally between the questions. E.g. If you have to answer 40 questions, and you’re given 50 mins. It means that you need to spend an average of 1 min 15 secs (50 mins divided by 40) on each subject. If you realize that you can’t resolve the question within 1 min 15 secs, you should be smart enough to skip it and proceed to the next question.
Don’t Forget:
The TRCN QPE exam is an online CBT exam that assesses the knowledge and competence of aspiring teachers in Nigeria. The exam consists of 60 multiple-choice questions, which must be completed within one hour, and cover a wide range of topics relevant to the teaching profession.
With adherence to these guidelines on how to pass the TRCN PQE exam, your TRCN Examination shall be successful. Adapting technology in your everyday teaching will help you in your career.
Applying for the TRCN Examination
To participate in the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria Professional Qualifying Examination. You are required to do the following:
- Generate Remita for PQE exam.
- Make the payment to the bank
- Present your credentials and payment to any TRCN state office
- Then wait for the examination date.
Only the candidates who successfully passed the examination will be eligible to register for the certificate. So I strongly recommend you prepare with this All-in-One Education Courses eBook for success. We also recommend you see TRCN Sample Questions for your preparations.
Final Thoughts
One of the major problems that cause teachers to fail TRCN exams is computer anxiety. Many teachers in Nigeria are not yet computer-literate. So out of fear of computer usage, they fail some questions they would have ordinarily answered correctly.
Taking basic computer skills like how to fill out online forms, and log into an online account. And the ability to move the mouse effortlessly will be a great advantage. Time management as discussed above will also be useful. If you find this article useful, please share it with others. Please remember that TRCN registration fees include fees for examination and certification.
