Due to the prevalence of internet-connected smartphones among students, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) have been identified as effective learning tools to engage students. A topic like the periodic table in chemistry poses challenges to some students.
In this post, I will share some software applications on the periodic table augmented reality. These apps are available for both Android and iOS users. I previously published the benefits of hybrid learning.
Virtual and Augmented Reality Apps
These applications are made based on concepts, and how they are presented has a big impact on how effectively students learn from them. So below are periodic table augmented reality apps.

The 360ed’s Elements ARTM is a learning product that includes a FREE 4D Augmented Reality Application paired with colorful flashcards for learners to easily understand the chemical elements that are the building blocks of all materials in the Universe.
Android App Version
The Periodic Table is a way of listing the chemical elements proposed by the Russian scientist Dmitri Mendeleev. Elements are listed in the table by the structure of their atoms. This includes how many protons they have as well as how many electrons they have in their outer shell.
It is called “periodic” because elements are lined up in cycles or periods. Each horizontal row in the table is a period. There are seven (or eight) total periods.

Tokyo Electron’s Periodic Table of Elements (Japanese and English) with augmented reality (AR) features was published in the Asahi Shimbun newspaper on July 22, 2017, as well as on the company’s own website.
TEL’s AR app is a dedicated augmented reality application that makes learning fun. It reads each of the element card data from AR cameras and supports the Japanese and English versions of the AR Enhanced Periodic Table. With narration included, the AR app enables a deeper level of understanding of the elements.
4. The Elements
The Elements app is a scrumptious visual exploration of the elements that make up everything around us. More than a simple reference app, The Elements showcases the building blocks of our universe through engaging words and photographs. Like the book, the app neatly mixes art and science, but the app’s interactive environment affords deeper dives into the rich details about each element. Parents and kids alike will never look at the periodic table in the same way again.
Advantages of the Periodic Table
- Knowing an element’s place in the periodic table makes it simpler to recall its attributes.
- The periodic table has simplified and systematized the study of chemistry. It serves as a memory help.
- By understanding an element’s location in the periodic table, it is possible to forecast the sort of compounds it will produce.
The use of an augmented reality periodic table has been a huge contribution to educational technology. Here is a Tutor Mate video that further explains this.
I’ve made a commitment over the last few years to cover a variety of edtech solutions that can benefit both students and teachers by enhancing education. Apps that use augmented reality take learning to the next level by making it more engaging. This article examines augmented reality chemistry lesson applications.
